1. Examination System
Ramarani Institute of Technology (RIT) follows a semester-based examination system.
- Diploma Programmes: Examinations are conducted by SCTEVT, Odisha
- B.Tech & MBA Programmes: Examinations are conducted by the BPUT, as per AICTE norms
The Institute follows all rules issued by the respective authorities.
2. Types of Assessment
Each semester evaluation includes:

Project / Viva | Final project work |
Students must pass both internal and external examinations.
3. Attendance Rules
- Students must maintain minimum attendance as prescribed by SCTEVT / BPUT.
- Insufficient attendance may result in detention from examinations.
- Attendance relaxation is allowed only as per official rules.
4. Eligibility to Appear in Examination
A student can appear in the examination only if he/she:
- Is officially admitted and registered
- Meets the minimum attendance requirement
- Completes internal assessment requirements
- Pays all examination and institutional fees
5. Internal Assessment
- Internal tests and evaluations are conducted during the semester.
- Marks are submitted to the examining authority as per schedule.
- Minimum internal marks are required to be eligible for final examination.
6. Result Declaration
- Results are declared by SCTEVT / BPUT.
- The Institute displays results after official publication.
- Students should regularly check official notifications.
7. Revaluation / Rechecking
- Students may apply for revaluation or rechecking of answer scripts.
- Applications must be submitted within the notified time limit.
- Fees and procedures are as per SCTEVT / BPUT rules.
- The decision of the examining authority is final.
8. Supplementary / Backlog Examination
- Students failing in one or more subjects may appear in supplementary or backlog examinations.
- Promotion to the next semester/year follows carry-forward rules prescribed by the authority.
9. Examination Discipline
- Unfair means or malpractice during examinations is strictly prohibited.
- Actions such as copying, impersonation, or possession of unauthorized material will lead to strict disciplinary action, including:
- Cancellation of examination
- Debarment
- Other penalties as per rules
10. Practical & Project Work
- Completion of laboratory work and submission of records is compulsory.
- Project work includes internal evaluation and viva-voce (where applicable).
- Non-submission may result in failure in the subject.
11. Important Note for Students
- Examination rules may be updated as per AICTE, SCTEVT, BPUT, or Government notifications.
- Students are advised to follow official circulars issued by the Institute.
- In case of any doubt, the decision of the examining authority shall be final.
Do’s & Don’ts During Examinations
DO’s (What Students Must Do)
- Carry Admit Card / Hall Ticket – Always bring your valid admit card and institutional ID to the examination hall.
- Reach the Examination Hall on Time – Report at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the examination.
- Follow Seating Instructions – Sit only at the seat allotted by the invigilator.
- Bring Permitted Materials Only – Carry only authorized stationery and materials as notified by the examination authority.
- Write Clearly and Neatly – Use the prescribed answer booklet and follow all instructions printed on it.
- Sign Attendance Sheets – Ensure your signature is recorded on the attendance sheet during the examination.
- Follow Invigilator Instructions – Comply with all directions issued by the invigilator and examination staff.
- Submit Answer Scripts Properly- Hand over the answer book and supplementary sheets before leaving the hall.
DON’Ts (What Students Must Not Do)
- Do Not Carry Unauthorized Items – Mobile phones, smart watches, calculators (unless permitted), notes, or electronic devices are strictly prohibited.
- Do Not Engage in Malpractice -Copying, impersonation, exchanging answer sheets, or using unfair means is strictly forbidden.
- Do Not Talk or Disturb Others – Maintain silence throughout the examination.
- Do Not Leave the Hall Without Permission – Leaving the examination hall without invigilator approval is not allowed.
- Do Not Tamper with Answer Scripts – Writing names, symbols, or marks that disclose identity is prohibited.
- Do Not Ignore Examination Instructions – Failure to follow instructions may lead to disciplinary action.
Important Note –
Violation of examination rules may result in cancellation of the examination, debarment, or other penalties as per SCTEVT / University regulations.
Unfair Means & Penalties
- Any act of malpractice will be dealt with strictly as per:
- SCTEVT Examination Regulations (Diploma), or
- University Ordinances (B.Tech & MBA).
- Penalties may include:
- Cancellation of examination
- Award of zero marks
- Debarment from future examinations
- Any other punishment prescribed by the authority
The decision of the examining authority shall be final.
STUDENT GRIEVANCE & REDRESSAL POLICY (EXAMINATION-RELATED)
Objective –
RIT is committed to providing a fair, transparent, and time-bound grievance redressal mechanism for addressing examination-related concerns of students.
Scope of Examination Grievances –
The grievance mechanism covers issues related to:
- Internal assessment marks
- Attendance discrepancies
- Practical / project evaluation (within institutional scope)
- Examination form / registration errors
- Procedural issues related to examinations
Note: Revaluation and result modification are governed solely by SCTEVT / BPUT.

Limitations of Institutional Authority
- RIT cannot alter:
- BPUT / SCTEVT evaluation
- Grades, marks, or results officially declared
- Students must apply separately for:
- Revaluation
- Rechecking
- Supplementary examinations – as per notified procedures of the examining authority.
Student Responsibilities – Students are expected to:
- Submit grievances within prescribed timelines
- Provide valid supporting documents
- Maintain decorum and discipline during the process
- Accept decisions taken as per statutory rules
GENERAL PROVISIONS
- Examination rules and grievance procedures are subject to change as per:
- AICTE
- SCTEVT, Odisha
- BPUT
- Government of Odisha
- Official circulars issued by the Institute shall be binding.
- In all matters, the decision of the competent statutory authority shall be final.
This Examination Code of Conduct & Grievance Policy of RIT is framed in accordance with AICTE Mandatory Disclosure requirements. In case of any conflict, the rules and regulations of SCTEVT, BPUT, AICTE, and the Government of Odisha shall prevail.
