The examination system at Ramarani Institute of Technology (RIT) is designed to ensure fair evaluation, academic rigor, and transparency, in accordance with the regulations prescribed by the State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (SCTEVT), Odisha, the affiliating University, AICTE, and the Government of Odisha, as applicable to the respective programmes.

1. Governing Authority

  1. Examinations for Diploma Engineering programmes shall be conducted and regulated by SCTEVT, Odisha.
  2. Examinations for Tech and MBA programmes shall be governed by the concerned affiliating BPUT, in conformity with AICTE regulations.
  3. RIT shall strictly follow the examination calendar, scheme of evaluation, and academic ordinances notified by the respective authorities.

2. Examination Structure

2.1 Diploma Engineering Programmes

  • The Diploma programmes follow a semester-based system as prescribed by SCTEVT.
  • Each semester includes:
    • Internal / Continuous Assessment, and
    • End-Semester Examination conducted by SCTEVT.

2.2 B.Tech Programmes (to be commenced from AY 2026-2027)

  • The B.Tech programmes follow a semester system with:
    • Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE), and
    • End-Semester Examinations conducted by the bput.

2.3 MBA Programme (to be commenced from AY 2026-2027)

  • The MBA programme follows a semester-based evaluation system, including:
    • Internal assessments (presentations, assignments, case studies, tests), and
    • End-Semester University examinations.

3. Internal Assessment

  1. Internal assessment shall be conducted as per the weightage and guidelines prescribed by SCTEVT / BPUT.
  2. Components of internal assessment may include:
    • Class tests
    • Assignments
    • Practical / laboratory performance
    • Attendance
    • Seminar / project evaluation
  3. Students must secure the minimum qualifying marks in internal assessment to become eligible for the end-semester examination.

4. Attendance Requirement

  1. A student must have minimum attendance as prescribed by SCTEVT / BPUT to be eligible to appear for examinations.
  2. Shortage of attendance may result in:
    • Debarment from appearing in examinations, or
    • Such action as per applicable academic regulations.
  3. Attendance relaxation, if any, shall be governed strictly by the competent authority’s rules.

5. Eligibility to Appear in Examination

A student shall be permitted to appear in the examination only if he/she:

  • Is duly enrolled and registered for the semester
  • Has fulfilled attendance requirements
  • Has paid all prescribed fees
  • Has completed internal assessment requirements

6. Unfair Means / Malpractice

  1. Use of unfair means during examinations is strictly prohibited.
  2. Any student found indulging in malpractice shall be punished as per:
    • SCTEVT examination regulations (for Diploma), or
    • BPUT ordinances (for B.Tech / MBA).
  3. Penalties may include:
    • Cancellation of examination
    • Debarment for one or more examinations
    • Any other disciplinary action deemed appropriate by the authority.

7. Evaluation and Declaration of Results

  1. Evaluation of answer scripts shall be carried out by the examining authority (SCTEVT / BPUT).
  2. Results shall be declared by the respective authority and notified to the Institute.
  3. RIT shall display results on the notice board / website for student information after official declaration.

8. Revaluation / Rechecking

  1. Students may apply for revaluation / rechecking of answer scripts within the stipulated time, as per the rules of SCTEVT / BPUT.
  2. The decision of the examining authority on revaluation shall be final and binding.

9. Supplementary / Backlog Examinations

  1. Students failing to clear one or more subjects may appear in supplementary / backlog examinations as per the schedule and regulations notified by the competent authority.
  2. Promotion to the next semester/year shall be governed strictly by pass criteria and carry-forward rules.

10. Project Work and Practical Examinations

  1. Practical, laboratory, and project examinations shall be conducted as per the approved curriculum and evaluation scheme.
  2. Submission of project reports and completion of practical work are mandatory for appearing in the final examination.
  3. Project evaluation may include:
    • Internal assessment
    • External examination / viva-voce

11. General Provisions

  1. Students shall abide by all examination instructions issued by the Institute and the examining authority.
  2. Any matter not explicitly covered under these regulations shall be governed by the rules of SCTEVT / BPUT / AICTE.
  3. RIT reserves the right to implement any modification in examination regulations as notified by statutory authorities from time to time.

These examination regulations are subject to change in accordance with notifications issued by SCTEVT, Odisha, BPUT, AICTE, and the Government of Odisha. The decision of the competent authority shall be final in all examination-related matters.
