The Institute follows the Semester System of examination as prescribed by the State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (SCTEVT), Odisha for Diploma programmes and by the affiliating University for B.Tech and MBA programmes, in compliance with AICTE norms.

Examination Authority

  1. Diploma Engineering Programmes
    • Examination, evaluation, result declaration, revaluation, and certification are conducted by SCTEVT, Odisha.
  2. Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Programmes
    • Examination and evaluation are conducted by the concerned BPUT, strictly as per its ordinances and AICTE regulations.
  3. Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme
    • Examination and evaluation are governed by the BPUT, in accordance with AICTE norms.

The Institute strictly adheres to the examination calendar and regulations issued by the respective authorities.

Scheme of Examination

The examination system comprises the following components:

  • Continuous / Internal Assessment
  • End-Semester Examination
  • Practical / Laboratory Examination
  • Project Work / Viva-Voce (where applicable)

The distribution of marks and weightage is strictly as prescribed by SCTEVT / BPUT.

Internal Assessment

  • Internal assessment is conducted during each semester as per the prescribed scheme.
  • Components may include:
    • Class tests
    • Assignments
    • Practical performance
    • Seminars / presentations
    • Attendance
  • Students must secure minimum qualifying marks in internal assessment to be eligible for appearing in the end-semester examination.

Attendance Requirement

  • Students must fulfill the minimum attendance requirement prescribed by SCTEVT / BPUT.
  • Failure to meet attendance norms may result in:
    • Debarment from examination, or
    • Such action as prescribed by the competent authority.

Attendance relaxation, if any, is governed strictly by statutory rules.

Eligibility to Appear in Examination

A student shall be eligible to appear in the examination only if he/she:

  1. Is duly admitted and registered for the semester
  2. Has satisfied the attendance requirement
  3. Has completed internal assessment requirements
  4. Has paid all prescribed examination and institutional fees

Evaluation and Result Declaration

  • Answer scripts are evaluated by examiners appointed by SCTEVT / BPUT.
  • Results are declared by the respective authority and communicated to the Institute.
  • The Institute displays results for student information after official declaration.

Revaluation / Rechecking

  • Provision for revaluation / rechecking of answer scripts exists as per the rules of SCTEVT / BPUT.
  • Applications must be submitted within the stipulated time along with prescribed fees.
  • The decision of the examining authority shall be final and binding.

Supplementary / Backlog Examination

  • Students who fail in one or more subjects may appear in supplementary / backlog examinations as per notified schedules.
  • Promotion to the next semester/year is governed by carry-forward and pass rules of the respective authority.

Unfair Means / Examination Malpractice

  • Adoption of unfair means during examinations is strictly prohibited.
  • Cases of malpractice are dealt with as per:
    • SCTEVT Examination Regulations (for Diploma), or
    • BPUT Ordinances (for B.Tech and MBA).
  • Punishments may include cancellation of examination, debarment, or other penalties as decided by the authority.

Practical and Project Evaluation

  • Practical and project examinations are conducted as per the approved curriculum.
  • Completion of laboratory work and submission of project reports are mandatory.
  • Project evaluation includes internal assessment and external viva-voce, wherever applicable.

General Provisions

  • The Institute strictly implements all examination-related instructions issued by statutory authorities.
  • Any matter not covered herein shall be governed by the rules and regulations of SCTEVT / BPUT / AICTE.
  • The Institute reserves the right to adopt any modification in examination procedures as notified by the competent authority.

The examination system is subject to change in accordance with notifications issued by SCTEVT, Odisha, the BPUT, AICTE, and the Government of Odisha from time to time. The decision of the competent authority shall be final in all examination-related matters.
